ABSTRACT:
A binary screen, system and method for performing dual energy radiographic imaging, using single pulse x-rays, are depicted. The binary screen includes a first phosphor which emits light of a first wavelength and a second phosphor which emits light of a second wavelength. First and second cameras are positioned such that light emitted from the binary screen is incident thereon. The cameras generate first and second image signals for subsequent processing. First and second optical filters are also provided. The first optical filter is positioned between the first camera and the binary screen so that only a first portion of the light emitted from the binary screen is incident on the first camera. The second optical filter is positioned between the second camera and the binary screen so that only a second portion of the light emitted from the binary screen is incident on the second camera. In an alternative embodiment, a film is positioned proximate the binary screen, so that the film is exposed by light of different wavelengths emitted by the binary screen. Preferably the film is color film. In such an embodiment the cameras and optical filters would not be necessary. In a further alternative embodiment, a camera containing color film is positioned such that light emitted from the binary screen is incident thereon.
