ABSTRACT:
An apparatus and method for automatically stacking bills (like paper currency) in a container, generally cruciform in shape in cross section, and defining first and second intersecting rectangular compartments therein. The bills are singly fed in a feed plane in a chute towards an opening in the container with the length of the bills in the chute being positioned perpendicular to a common axis of the container. A selector with first and second legs depending therefrom is shifted between first and second positions so as to alternately position the first and second legs in the feed plane causing successive bills being fed to be rotated in the feed plane and fed alternately into the first and second compartments.
