ABSTRACT:
A seat, as may be used on a bicycle, providing improved efficiency and comfort for a rider. The seat comprises a split seat having two halves simultaneously rotatable about the longitudinal axis of a mounting post. The points of the two halves that are furthest from the mounting post are also movable up or down in conjunction with the up and down movements of the rider's legs. In addition, support portions of each half are pivotable about the longitudinal axis of the axle on which the support portions are mounted. A seat configured in this manner will rotate about the longitudinal axis of the mounting post, thus causing the right and left sides of the axle on which the support portions sit to move equal distances in opposite directions of each other, i.e., when the left side is forward, the right side will be rearward by an equal distance. The seat needs no horn and can be manufactured using easily interchangeable parts so that a rider can select those parts that will provide the desired movement, support, or look that the rider desires.
