ABSTRACT:
A benzoxazinone compound represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, and R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a cyanoalkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group or an aralkyl group; a process for preparing the same; and a herbicidal composition comprising the benzoxazinone compound as an active component are disclosed. The above benzoxazinone compounds exhibit a high selectivity for useful crop plants and a strong herbicidal activity with respect to various noxious weeds.
