ABSTRACT:
A compound of general formula ##STR1## in which X.sup.- represents one equivalent of an anion; R.sup.5 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; each R.sup.4 independently represents a methyl or ethyl group; and each of R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 independently represents a hydrogen or halogen atom, an alkyl, alkoxy or alkylthio group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an arylthio group or a group of formula ##STR2## in which R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and X have the meanings given above, are useful as water soluble co-polymerizable photoinitiators.
