ABSTRACT:
Respective constituent members of a wheel bearing unit5are assembled and also a cover74is fixed to an inner end portion of an outer ring6. The wheel bearing unit5is fitted to a turning machine38in a state that a space in which an encoder72is provided is sealed tightly from an outside by fitting a stop plug96into an insertion hole84provided in the cover74. A top end portion of a rotating shaft40of a turning machine38is engaged with an engaged concave portion102provided to a hub8a. A turning process is applied to an outer side surface of a rotary flange13while turning the hub8aaround the outer ring6by the rotating shaft40, and thus the outer side surface is processed in predetermined shape and dimension.
