ABSTRACT:
A bearing to be used in an internal combustion engine, comprises a base and an overlay layer formed on said base. The overlay layer comprises an alloy layer consisting of from 5 to 20%, preferably from 10 to 14%, of Sn, from 0.05 to 10%, preferably from 0.5 to 5%, of at least one element selected from the group consisting of In and Tl, from 0.05 to 5%, preferably from 0.2 to 2%, of at least one, wear resistance-enhancing element selected from the group consisting of Sb, Mn, Bi, Ni, Cu, Ca and Ba, and Pb and impurities in balance, all percentages being by weight. The bearing is satisfactorily reliable when used in recent internal combustion engines, wherein the output of the engines tends to be high, and further, the oil drain interval tends to be long.
The plating of layers and diffusion between these layers are conducted to produce a bearing which is reliable when used in the recent internal combustion engines.
