The light emission surface sides of the plural light emitting devices are joined to the optical sheet4via joining layers5. The backlight unit1satisfies a condition of n1≦n2≦n3, where n1is a refractive index of the optical sheet4, n2is a refractive index of the joining layer5, and n3is a refractive index of the light emitting device2.
