ABSTRACT:
There are disclosed compounds ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each independently of one another hydrogen, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl group, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkoxy group, a C.sub.5 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl group, a C.sub.5 -C.sub.8 cycloalkoxy group, a C.sub.5 -C.sub.8 cycloalkylthio group, a C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 aryl group, a C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 aryloxy group, a C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 arylthio group, nitro, halogen, cyano, --COOH, --COOR.sub.7, --NR.sub.8 R.sub.9 or --CONR.sub.8 R.sub.9, where R.sub.7 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.8 acycloalkyl, phenyl or phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, and R.sub.8 and R.sub.9 are each independently of the other hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 alkyl, phenyl or phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, X is nitrogen or CR.sub.4, Y is nitrogen or CR.sub.5 and Z is nitrogen or CR.sub.6, and R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are each independently of one another hydrogen, a straight-chain or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl group or a C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 aryl group, with the proviso that, if X is CR.sub.4 and Y is CR.sub.5 and Z is nitrogen or CR.sub.6, or if Y is CR.sub.5 and Z is CR.sub.6 and X is nitrogen or CR.sub.4, then each pair of substituents R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 form a group --CH.dbd.C(R.sub.10)--C(R.sub.11).dbd.CH-- or a tetramethylene group, wherein R.sub.10 and R.sub.11 are each independently of the other hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, phenyl or phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl. The compounds are suitable for use as active components in thermal information recording systems, especially for laser-optical information recording media.
