ABSTRACT:
Azo dyes useful for thermotransfer printing have the formula ##STR1## where the substituents have the following meanings: X is a radical of the formula IIa or IIb ##STR2## R.sup.1 is H, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl or phenyl which may be substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 -alkoxy, chlorine, bromine or cyano,
