ABSTRACT:
Compounds are provided of the formula (I): ##SPC1##
wherein n is 0 or 1, X is a substituted amino group which is convertible to an amino group or salt thereof and R is hydrogen or a group of the formula (II) or (III): ##SPC2##
wherein R.sub.1 is an ester group convertible to a carboxylic acid group or a salt thereof, R.sub.2 is OH or Cl and R.sub.3 is C(CH.sub.3).sub.2 or PR.sub.a R.sub.b R.sub.c where R.sub.a, R.sub.b and R.sub.c are each a C.sub.1-6 alkyl, phenyl, toluyl or benzyl group. Such compounds are of value as intermediates in the synthesis of antibacterially active cephalosporin compounds.
