ABSTRACT:
A dual screw-type pump is provided with a means for balancing the resultant dynamic axial thrust on the screw assemblies during operation of the pump. The resultant thrust on each assembly is absorbed in part by a circular piston on the assembly near the rear of the pump and the remainder by a thrust bearing engaged with the assembly near the front of the pump. The longitudinal position of one of the screw assemblies is selectively adjustable relative to the position of the other screw assembly to balance the thrust on the screw assemblies.
