ABSTRACT:
An automotive side impact assembly10is provided. The automotive side impact assembly10includes a door assembly18having a door body portion20and a window opening portion22. The door body portion20and said window opening portion22meet to form a beltline24. A window assembly26is positioned within the window opening portion22and extends into the door body portion20when in a window closed condition28. An automotive seat assembly12is positioned adjacent said door assembly18. A side-impact air bag assembly32is positioned within the automobile14such that the side air-bag32is deployed between the door assembly18and the automotive seat12. The side-impact air bag assembly32has a deployed condition in which a side air-bag32is deployed during a collision. A laminate assembly40is in communication with the window assembly26and has an upper laminate portion42extending above the beltline24into the window opening portion22when the window assembly26is in the window closed condition28. The laminate assembly40has a lower laminate portion44extending below the beltline24into the door body portion20when the window assembly26is in the window closed position28. The laminate assembly40provides structural rigidity to the window assembly26such that the side air-bag32is supported during deployment.
