ABSTRACT:
A second pedal bracket25that supports a brake pedal11by a pedal support shaft27is swingably connected, via a bracket support shaft28, to an upper part of a first pedal bracket20fixed to a dashpanel3. Both the first and second pedal brackets20and25and a restricting/derestricting member32are connected to each other by a bolt37to restrict swinging of the second pedal bracket25. Upon collision of an automobile, a rear end wall39of the restricting/derestricting member32abuts against an instrument member7, thus moving the member32and bolt37relatively forward to derestrict the second pedal bracket25. Then, an arm40extended upward from the second pedal bracket25abuts against the instrument member7, thus rotating the second pedal bracket25to displace the pedal support shaft27backward.
