ABSTRACT:
A starting motor5of an internal combustion engine1drives an input/output pulley10through a belt11. Auxiliary machinery6, 7and8is driven by the engine1though the belt11while the engine is in operation. The starting motor5drives the auxiliary machinery6, 7and8through the belt11while the engine is in standstill. A speed change mechanism41transmits rotation of the starting motor5at a high gear ratio to the engine to start the same, and transmits rotation of an engine output shaft2at a lower gear ratio to the motor5to make the motor5generate power while the engine is in operation. The speed change mechanism41overlaps the pulley10at least partially axially of the output shaft2. The pulley10defines an oil chamber39for containing lubricate oil.
