ABSTRACT:
A feature extraction and selection technique for the recognition of chararistics identified with man-made objects within a scene of natural terrain, wherein the frequency of occurrence of the features is plotted in the form of three-dimensional histograms which describe the features of man-made objects, such as straight edges and regular geometric shapes. Employing conventional pattern recognition techniques, these features are used to classify the imagery as man-made or non man-made.
