ABSTRACT:
A device for automatically actuating a band brake on a motor saw for emergency stopping of the saw chain, wherein a latching mechanism including pretensioned elastic force-providing coupling is released, occurring upon a throw movement of the saw, by a pin or the like transferring a force between a carrying handle of the saw and a collapsable arm of the mechanism.
