ABSTRACT:
An atherectomy catheter device including a flexible casing, an elongated flexible tubular coil in the casing, a window extending axially in the flexible tubular coil and casing for placement in contiguous relationship to a lesion in a blood vessel, a cutting edge on the coil in the window, and an actuator having structure therein for both rotating and reciprocating the catheter to cause the cutting edge to excise the lesion from the blood vessel. The elongated tubular member may be a flexible corrugated member. An atherectomy catheter including a flexible casing, an elongated flexible tubular coil in the casing, a window extending axially in the flexible tubular coil and casing, a rotatable knife member in the flexible coil, and a drive for rotating and advancing the knife axially through the window.
