ABSTRACT:
The present invention related to novel compounds useful in the manufacture of astaxanthin and to processes for their preparation.
The novel intermediates have the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 independently are C.sub.1-6 -alkyl which may be branched or phenyl, and ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 is alkyl, alkoxy, NO.sub.2, NH.sub.2 or halogen.
