ABSTRACT:
An associative memory carries out a search operation in plural fields. The search data3-1through3-rin fields, r in number, are supplied to the primary associative memories20-1through20-r. The i-th primary associative memory20-icarries out the search operation, produces the primary match line17-1-1through17-m-r, and maintains the state of logical AND operation by every word of the primary match line17-j-1through17-j-r, the secondary match line18-j-1through18-j-r, and memory means m-j when primary search enabling signal10-iis in a valid state. Supplied with the states maintained in the stored information in each word and memory means43, the primary associative memory20-iprovides the intermediate data93-i. The secondary associative memory21-iwith words, m in number, searches for the intermediate data93-iand produces the secondary match line18-i-1through18-i-mwhen secondary search enabling signal11-I is in a valid state. The match signal5-1through5-mwith the logical operation by every word of the secondary match line are suppried exteriorly.
