ABSTRACT:
An improved lipectomy device, or cannula, is disclosed having inner and outer tubes. The outer tube has an elongated aspiration aperture, and the inner tube has a spiral slot. A mechanism inside the handle of the device causes the inner tube to rotate, creating a traveling hole effect along the aspiration aperture. Alternatively, the inner tube may oscillate rather than comoplete full rotations. This obviates the necessity of the surgeon repeatedly pushing the cannula in and out.
