ABSTRACT:
An assault-resistant gate is intended to bar passage, through an opening, of large vehicles moving at high velocity. The gate has a relatively strong hinge-post. A beam extends from the hinge-post across the opening. The beam is relatively rigid in a horizontal plane. The beam is attached to the hinge-post by a breakaway mounting. The attachment is weaker than the hinge-post. Energy absorbing material is disposed behind the beam on either side of the opening.
