A permanent-magnet material containing samarium, cobalt, copper and iron, has the composition Sm(Co.sub.1-x-y- Fe.sub.x Cu.sub.y).sub.z, wherein 0 < x < 0.2, 0.1 < y < 0.3 and 6.5 < z < 7.5.
