ABSTRACT:
A heart valve having a disc (10) pivotally mounted within a ring (14) by means of pairs of projections (16, 18 and 20, 22) carried by the ring. The disc and ring are arranged so that the blood flows through the valve as the disc moves relative to the ring reduces the likelihood of blood clot formations, in turn, reducing the likelihood of thrombosis.
