A storage shelf4is provided which has, for example, two rotatable mounts18, 19.A notch41is formed in the mount18so that a cassette34can be freely transferred between the lower mount19and an overhead travelling carriage8.ID readers6are provided on poles16, 17of the mounts18, 19,respectively. Thus, the ID36of the cassette is read and memorized in a storage shelf file13.The IDs of stored articles can be managed, resulting in advanced operations.
