ABSTRACT:
Armor plate formed of an array of tiles composed of titanium carbide partes dispersed in a matrix of tough, crack resistant titanium-nickel binary alloy. The tiles are mounted on a support layer which is an alloy of either aluminum or titanium or is a fragment resistant plastic which may be reinforced or non-reinforced.
