ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to an armor penetrating projectile having a substantial length-to-diameter ratio with a penetrating sabot surrounding the projectile and utilizing a conventional sabot for lauching the projectile. The penetrator of the projectile is provided with means for receiving a material higher in density and having a lower melting point than the material of the penetrated armor for providing lubrication for the penetrator upon impact.
