ABSTRACT:
A method for cleaning or preserving a soft contact lens comprising intimately contacting said soft contact lens with an aqueous solution containing an effective surfactant and solution preservative amount of an amphoteric surfactant of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is alkyl, alkenyl or alkanedienyl of six to eighteen carbon atoms which may be substituted;
