ABSTRACT:
An aqueous ink for ink jet printing, comprising water, from about 0.2 to 15 parts by weight of a water-soluble dye, and from about 1 to 50 parts by weight of a compound represented by Formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a hydroxyalkyl group, or an alkoxyalkyl group. The ink is capable of producing clear dark characters and may be stored in an ink jet printer for relatively long periods of time with clogging in the nozzle of the printer.
