ABSTRACT:
An aqueous alumina dispersion prepared from high quality, submicrometer alumina powder, suitable for manufacturing fine ceramic products, is disclosed. The sub-micrometer alumina particles have a surface area of 2.5 to 50 m.sup.2 per gram of the alumina particles. There are three components in the dispersion: sub-micrometer alumina particles (10 to 68 percent based on weight of the colloidal dispersion), semicarbazide hydrochloride derivative (0.1 to 5 percent based on the weight of the alumina particles), and water (the balance).
