ABSTRACT:
An aqueous alkaline hair dye composition containing N.sup.1,N.sup.4,N.sup.4 -tris(2' -hydroxyethyl)-2-nitro-p-phenylenediamine and a particular class of aminohydroxy compounds as alkalizing agent. The aminohydroxy compound is defined as follows: ##EQU1## wherein: A. R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are hydrogen, hydroxyethyl or hydroxyisopropyl;
