An applicator12and a process for the production of an applicator12. The applicator serves for distributing a cosmetic preparation on the skin, semi-mucous membrane or mucous membrane and comprises a holding portion18and an applicator portion30which is injected on to the holding portion18in the direction of the longitudinal extent of the applicator12, wherein both the holding portion18and also the applicator portion30at least partially comprise plastic material and the plastic material of the holding portion18is harder than the plastic material of the applicator portion30and wherein the holding portion18does not form a core which extends into the applicator portion30in the direction of the longitudinal extent.
