ABSTRACT:
A flying object, such as a missile is protected against shock loads, especially loads effective in the longitudinal direction, by a shock absorber which is secured to the muzzle end of a launching tube by an adapter ring. The absorber itself is a pipe section of relatively soft elastic material having embedded therein a helical insert of relatively hard elastic material.
