ABSTRACT:
High voltage apparatus having a voltage carrying part such as a conductor enclosed by a housing with a gas, such as SF.sub.6 under pressure, used as insulation in the housing in which, in order to prevent burn-off of the housing and the voltage carrying part in the event of an accidental standing arc, the wall of the housing and, optionally, the voltage carrying part are provided, in the area most likely to be exposed to an accidental standing arc, with a reinforcement against burn-off which includes means to relieve compressed gas pressure and is designed so as to have a heat insulating effect for the wall of the housing.
