ABSTRACT:
A pair of skewers (540,542) are slidably mounted to a frame (516-534) and connected to a mechanism (538) which can move the skewers toward and away from each other to position or release an object such as a spool (10), the mechanism including a crank member (580), a U-shaped link (544) connected between one skewer and the crank member, a cam plate (572,574) connected between the other skewer and a cam follower (590) carried by the crank member, so that rotation of the crank member causes the skewers to toward or away from each other.
