ABSTRACT:
False signals and noise are reduced in a device such as a digital still camera having a solid-state electronic image sensing device. To achieve this, a luminance signal generating circuit generates luminance signals Y1and Y3having different reproduction frequency bands. The larger the sum Cd of the absolute values of color difference signals Cr and Cb, the greater the proportion of R- and B-color components in the image of a subject. Accordingly, the luminance signals Y1and Y3are combined in such a manner that a reproduction frequency band based upon the R- and B-color components will dominate.
