ABSTRACT:
In apparatus for freeze drying of gas, particularly compressed air, with a gas to gas heat exchanger and a gas to refrigerant heat exchanger in a substantially vertical arrangement, the gas to be dried flowing successively through the gas to gas heat exchanger, the gas to refrigerant exchanger and then again through the gas to gas heat exchanger in a continuous circuit, at least the gas to gas heat exchanger has exchanger elements which consist of an outer pipe and an inner or core pipe located therein, and a metal sheet meander-shaped in cross-section is arranged in the space intermediate the inner surface of the outer pipe and the outer surface of the core pipe, and/or located in the core pipe, and is in heat contact with the surface or surfaces.
