ABSTRACT:
A plurality of members are arranged in side by side relation to form a plurality of horizontal rows, vertically stacked in a vertical drier. Movable means are associated with selected rows of the members and are movable to form a floor to separate one part of the drier from another part so as to maintain loads of material moving through the drier separate as the material is being dried. Means are provided to actuate the movable means in a predetermined sequence to stepwise form a floor from the top to the bottom of the drier whereby loads of material in the drier are maintained separate as they are moved through the drier.
