ABSTRACT:
A high energy magnet and backiron assembly of an actuator assembly of a storage disc. Multiple magnet segments are bonded together to form a high energy composite magnet. The high energy composite magnet is bonded to a backiron to construct a higher capacity actuator motor. The composite magnet is bonded to a backiron via a bonding assembly which includes magnet and backiron nests. Retainers are included to secure a composite magnet in the magnet nest and a backiron in the backiron nests. Retainers provide sufficient pressure to counteract the attraction force between the magnet supported in the magnet nest and the backiron in the backiron nest. The magnet and backiron nests are coupled to a base of the bonding assembly and operate between a non-operational position and a bonding position. In the non-operatiornal position, the magnet nest and backiron nest are supported a spaced distance apart. In the bonding position, the magnet nest and backiron nest are supported in close proximity to align the magnet and backiron.
