ABSTRACT:
An insect trap comprising: a base portion having a trapping surface; adhesive material placed on the trapping surface; and a mounting structure for so mounting a light source above the trapping surface that fleas are attracted to the trapping surface and trapped by the adhesive means. The mounting structure extends over no more than 60%, and preferably between 25% and 40%, of the trapping surface. The flea trap also preferably comprises a mesh cover for covering the trapping surface in a manner that allows fleas to reach the trapping surface but prevents incidental contact therewith. A light cover is preferably provided to cover the light source, and the uppermost point on the light cover should be located no more than 3 inches above the trapping surface.
