ABSTRACT:
A cartridge for protecting a magnetic layer on a photosensitive web material from a magnetic field. The cartridge comprises a ferromagnetic material dispersed in a polymer, the composite material of the polymer and the ferromagnetic material having a magnetic permeability greater than 1.0. The magnetic layer is shielded from a magnetic field applied externally of the cartridge, such as from an article surveillance system, which could affect recorded information on the magnetic layer.
