In a color correction apparatus1, a representative color extracting unit13reads from an object color information memory12a hue distributable region of an object selected by an object selecting unit11and the distribution frequency in each split hue region to extract a representative color. A color correction parameter determining unit15determines from the memory content of a color correction parameter memory14optimum color correction parameters adapted to the representative color extracted by the representative color extracting unit13. A color correction processing unit16carries out, upon an input image, color correction acting only upon the representative color of the object and neighborhood colors therearound.
