ABSTRACT:
A phosph(on)ite free antioxidant system based on an .alpha.-tocopherol formulation and a compound selected from tetrakis[methylene(3,5-di-tert.-4-hydroxyhydrocinnamate]methane or octadecyl 3,5-di-tert.-4-hydroxyhydrocinnamate is disclosed. This system can replace phenolic/phosphite combinations as the primary system, or simply replace the phosphite portion, to achieve certain optimum performance requirements. In either case, the problems associated with phosph(on)ites can be eliminated or minimized.
