ABSTRACT:
The present invention provides a method whereby pyrogen-induced, prostaglandin-induced and idiopathic fever is alleviated by systemic administration of a hypothermic prostaglandin.
The hypothermic prostaglandins of the present invention are .omega.-aryl-PGF-type compounds, e.g., 15-methyl-17-phenyl-.omega.-trinor-PGF.sub.2.alpha. and 16-phenoxy-.omega.-tetranor-PGF.sub.2.alpha..
