ABSTRACT:
The present invention pertains to novel antibodies directed to the C-terminal part of the PrPScisoform of prions. In particular, the present invention pertains to the use of such antibodies in the diagnosis of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and the new variant form of Creutzfeld Jacobs Disease (vCJD). In addition, the present invention relates to the peptide recognized by the antibodies and its use in the immunization and/or treatment of BSE, CJD, vCJD and other TSE related diseases.
