This disclosure relates to novel methods of use to improve feed efficiency and to enhance the growth rate of meat animals comprising administering to the animals an effective amount of antibacterial cis-BM123.gamma. and/or antibacterial trans-BM123.gamma. or the pharmaceutically acceptable salts, complexes, or alkylated derivatives thereof in the animals feed.
