A charge generating compound for use in electrophotographic devices of the formula: ##STR1## wherein: A and A.sup.1 are each independently selected from phenyl, substituted phenyl, quinolino, naphthyl and substituted naphthyl wherein the substituents are independently selected from halo, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, phenyl, phenoxy, phenylthio, CF.sub.3, CH.sub.2 OH, CO.sub.2 R.sup.1, NHCOR.sup.1, COR.sup.1, NO.sub.2 and NR.sup.1 R.sup.2 ;
