ABSTRACT:
The present invention concerns the novel, sugar-ring expansion for synthesis of novel analogs of spectinomycin or C-6' analogs of spectinomycin from known aminomethyldihydrospectinomycin and analogs thereof. Additionally, the invention concerns the novel synthesis of novel 7 membered sugar-ring analogs of dihydrospectinomycin and C-6' analogs thereof from novel 7 membered sugar-ring spectinomycin and C-6' analogs thereof by treatment with NaBH.sub.4.
