ABSTRACT:
A silicone emulsion useful as a component in hair care compositions In a first aspect of the present invention, a silicone emulsion comprises the product of a base catalyzed reaction of an aqueous emulsion of a hydroxy end-stopped polyorganosiloxane and an aminofunctional silane according to the structural formula: ##STR1## wherein: R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently H, alkyl, or an aminoalkyl group according to the structural formula: ##STR2## and wherein: R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are each independently (C.sub.1 -C.sub.12)alkyl or (C.sub.2 -C.sub.8)alkoxy, provided that at least two of R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are each (C.sub.2 -C.sub.8)alkoxy;
