ABSTRACT:
An aluminum-chlorine, thermally activated, electrochemical cell composed of an aluminum anode, an inert metal cathode and a two-layered pelletized electrolyte sandwiched therebetween and composed of a mixture of aluminum chloride with one or more salts of sodium chloride, lithium chloride, potassium chloride and tetra-substituted ammonium chloride.
